I checked out the love hotel in the morning, I was going to try and see the sumo wrestling but it’s a bit expensive and I was too lazy to get up early to get tickets…

Japan – Shirakawago

10/05/16

I woke up super early and got to Kanazawa station at 9.15am to get a bus ticket for Shirakawago. I had found a timetable online through the nohi bus site and knew that there was a bus at 9.40am. They do say you have to book in advance but I chanced it and bought it just before and half the bus was empty! It cost 1850Y one way.

Japan – Kanazawa

07/05/16

It took around 2 hours on the train from Kyoto to Kanazawa, all covered with the JR pass. In Kanazawa I was a little disheartened at first as it seemed exactly the same as previous places in Japan. Japan – Kyoto, Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kinkaku-ji

05/05/16

I woke up at 5am today to beat the golden week crowds and jumped straight on my bike for a 7km journey to Fushimi Inari Taisha to see the famous shrines.┬áIt was so nice to cycle on the empty streets and even better when there were little to no people at the shrine. It meant I could see it without the crowds and get some good pictures. It was really pretty and so worth getting up early for! I didn’t go too far up the mountain as I was quite tired and needed to save my legs for the journey back. I can imagine it being very rewarding to get to the top although I read it takes about 4 hours to get there!

Japan – Kyoto, Gion

04/05/16

This morning I checked out of my flat in Osaka and headed off to Kyoto, I managed to get on the rapid train so it only took 30 mins to get there. From Kyoto station my Airbnb host had given me clear instructions so I hopped on the bus which cost 230y! And in no time was at the flat, it’s great as bikes are included with the flat so no walking or bus yay.
