Thailand – Bangkok, Floating market, Pat Pong

Today I got up at 7.30 to get in the car for the 2 hour drive to the floating market. I was expecting a local market and after the really long drive I was surprised I had to pay around £10 for a boat! Nothing is local about this market its literally a tourist trap, everything is double the price and it’s all the same stuff you can buy in any market. I was really disappointed as it was only an hour boat trip, it felt like a waste of time and money. I’m glad I saw it but never again and if you have something better to do then give it a miss.

It was lunchtime by the time we left so we headed to a mall paragon which has a massive food hall. I ate at the top at a nice Thai restaurant. They really love Japanese food here, which made me laugh as I was sick of the sight of it.

Afterwards I went back to the hotel to freshen up and then headed out for dinner at a Beijing Kao ya restaurant, this was delicious and I was so full. I ate dishes like duck skin pancake, fresh fish, veg, noodles with duck feet, and duck meat.

To finish off the night I went to pat pong to see the red light district only! And to maybe go see the ping pong show… It wasn’t hard to find one either. There are men who approach you about the shows but I ignored them trying to see everything else first. I then saw a door which had a sign above saying pussy in neon and it lead to a staircase. The man outside said it was a ping pong show and there was a 300 baht cover charge and it included a drink. So I went in, with caution. I sat by the bar and got a soft drink and proceeded to see the naked women on a stage in the middle of the room. I didn’t know what to expect but it was pretty gross, some of these women were so old and were just dancing naked. There were some younger girls who you could tell were not happy to take their clothes off and were just awkward on stage. I didn’t feel uncomfortable enough to walk out but at the same time I wasn’t comfortable looking at them.

There was one woman walking in her bra and no pants and she was the ping pong popper, she aimed herself in my direction and I had to hit the ball back. This was both hilarious and disgusting, I did not want the ball to touch me so it was important that I didn’t miss. Some people managed to miss and had a wet ball in their face, I couldn’t stop laughing at it.

There were other things these women did with their vaginas, like pull out a string of razors, some 5m of ribbon, blowing darts to pop balloons and many more. At the end of each show they come round asking for tips that start at 100B, I only tipped once. I started to leave when I saw one woman get some water and aimed herself towards me, there was no way I was going to be squirted on! I was backing out but was in hysterics when she squirted the water at others who weren’t expecting it. I ran out pretty fast.

I walked through the market for a little bit, and then sat in another bar where there were 3 girls dancing terribly. I felt more uncomfortable here as they looked young and there were many older men really leering at them. When these men left I was sickened to see one of them fully grope one of the girls putting money in her bra, she found it entertaining but for me it wasn’t nice to see. After this escapade I left and walked round Pat Pong some more, there’s many bars here with so many girls hovering by the entrance to lure you in.

Sure Pat Pong is the sleaziest place I’ve ever been to, and there’s probably a lot of underlying problems and sadness as to why these girls work there, but the ping pong show was hilariously disgusting. If you’re not too prudish then check it out, as a woman I was never forced to pay more money but the groups of men always had the women next to them and wanted tips.

Unfortunatley I never saw many lady boys! Maybe next time…
