So for our final day in Coron, we decided to have a beach day. Unfortunately there aren’t any easy to reach beaches on the main Coron island, and many are private. So we signed up to the Island Escapades tour which stops off at 3 beaches.
The journey to the three beaches takes an hour and half and again we were waiting a long time until we could set off. The boat was probably over capacity, but once everyone was on board we made ourselves comfortable for the journey.
Our first stop was Bulogdog Island, and it was ok. There wasn’t much of a beach to sit at at first without staring at a boat, and probably because the tide was quite high we couldn’t enjoy the sand bank so much. There’s a nice viewing deck on top of a small hill, which had obvious nice views. Soon enough boats started to leave and we enjoyed the beach for a bit, in total we had 1 hour on this beach and if I’m honest, I could have left it earlier.
The next stop was lunch, on banana island. It’s called Banana Island because the ariel view makes it look like a banana leaf. Now this island was lovely, there was a nice beach which had no boats blocking the view, and the beach huts were far away enough that you weren’t disturbed after lunch. Lunch was exactly the same as the previous days island hopping tour, fish, pork, chicken and rice.
The final island was Malcapuya, where the boats dock up and you have to walk across to get to the beach. This appealed to me the most as it meant there wouldn’t be a boat in sight and I was not disappointed. Granted it was not the most lovely beach I’d seen on this trip, but it was large, people were spread out and the sand and water was great. There were huts which you could hire, and also stalls to buy snacks. This was the highlight beach on this tour for me.
Unfortunately on the way back to Coron island I didn’t feel too well, and once I got back to my room I suffered from food poisoning. It must have been something small as my friend was completely fine and we had eaten buffet food. Either way it was not the most enjoyable evening.
