Philippines – Manila – SM Mall of Asia

07/04/18

So my last day in Philippines on this whirlwind trip, we took an 8am flight from Coron to Manila. Took a taxi to the main terminal which cost 65 pesos and stored our big bags in the storage on arrivals floor in terminal 3, it cost us 350pesos for the day. We then took a yellow taxi to the Mall of Asia which was only a 10- 15 min drive away.

The taxi there was a bit dramatic as the driver asked us if we wanted to take the skyway, which would be an additional 45 pesos, we said yes to save time, then once at the mall he didn’t have change for our 500 note and proceeded to get really angry at us for not having the correct change. He almost tried to drop us off a 15min walk away from the mall and charge us 10 pesos less. I didn’t understand why he’d be such a dick about it and even try to charge us more for him to get more change. Anyway, we made it eventually.

First stop at the mall was the hypermarket, where I bought a ton of goodies to take home, also nearly bought useless stuff like a mini portable rice cooker. This supermarket had everything and I enjoyed walking around it. We had another wander around, Jeni ate a gross Jolibee burger, I think the best dish is the chicken and rice which is what everyone was eating. Then we ended up getting a pedicure for 750 which was a 2 hour all the works treatment including paraffin soaking. I thought for a moment that the treatment would never end and we’d miss our flight haha. It was great, and comfortable and my feet have never been softer.

If you have a layover for 5 hours I recommend heading to this mall, it’s good for last minute gifts. We took an uber back to the airport which was much simpler and cheaper than hiring a proper taxi.
